Read, Sing, Play
Birth to 6 Years Old
Mondays @ 10:30 AM

Introduce your child to pre-literacy skills in this interactive program. There will be books, songs, rhymes, movement activities and more. This program will help teach children a love of reading and will offer parents/caregivers early literacy tips to use at home. There will be a playgroup immediately following the story time. All books read can be counted towards the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program! No registration is required.

Bilingual Story Time
Birth to 6 Years Old
Tuesdays @ 11:00 AM

Come join Ms. Margarita every Tuesday morning at 11:00 am for a bilingual story time. We will share stories, songs and more in English and Spanish.  All books read can be counted towards the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program! No registration is required.

Art Behind the Story
2 to 6 Years Old
Thursdays @ 10:30 AM

Children ages 2 and up are invited to join us every Thursday morning at 10:30am to listen to a story and make a related art project with Ms. Christa.

Homework Helpers

Do you need help with your homework or a tutor in a specific subject? Visit the Children’s Room on Mondays from 3pm to 5pm to meet with a student from Connecticut College. Children will be tutored on a first come, first served basis.

Violin Lessons
4th -9th graders
Mondays and Wednesdays
3:30 PM – 5:30 PM

The New London Community Orchestra is pleased to offer free violin lessons to kids in 4th to 9th grade. The lessons will be 30 minutes long and held every Monday and Wednesday (you must commit to both days).

Milk & Cookies
K -2nd graders
Wednesdays @ 4:00 PM

Children in K-2 are invited to join us for an after-school snack, listen to a story and do a related activity every Wednesday at 4:00 pm. Please call the Children’s Room at 860-447-1411 if your child has any food allergies.

Tween Thursday
3rd -6th graders
Thursdays @ 4:00 PM

Tweens in grades 3-6 are invited to join Miss Ty every Thursday at 4:00 pm. Every week there will be a snack and fun activity. Please call the Children’s Room at 860-447-1411 if your child has any food allergies.

Home School Workshop
1st -6th graders
Monday, October 23 @ 12:30 PM

All families are invited to join Ms. Ty every fourth Monday of the month for a fun and educational program. This month the New London Fire Department will be stopping in for an informational program on fire prevention. Stop by to meet real firemen, see an emergency vehicle up close and learn more about fire safety and prevention.

Make & Take Craft

Come get crafty at the library! Stop by anytime between 11am and 1pm to make a craft and take it home. This month we be making paper plate scarecrows! This program will be held on the first Saturday of every month.

 Brick Builders

5 to 12 year olds

Love to build? Then join the Brick Builders! Children ages 5 to 12 years old can visit anytime between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm to make their own LEGO® creation. The creations will be put on display in the library until the next meeting. This program will be held on the 2nd Saturday of every month.

Read to a Therapy Dog

Come meet Ella, a therapy dog, and read her a story! Please call to sign up for a 15 minute time slot, space is limited.

Movie & Munchies

Monster House

Join us on the third Saturday of every month at 11:00 am for a family friendly movie! All movies are rated G or PG and a snack will be provided for children. Families are invited to bring their own lunch or snacks. Parents are required to stay in the room with their child.

Home School Board Game Meet-Up

All home school families are invited to join us for a fun afternoon of board games! Stop in anytime between 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm to play a variety of games. All ages are welcome.

Italian Heritage for Kids
Sunday, Oct. 22
1:30 PM – 3:30 PM

Stop by between 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm to celebrate Italian Heritage Month. Children will be making their own squished tomato pasta sauce to take home. All materials provided, no registration required.

Halloween Parade
All Ages

Stop by between 3pm and 4:45pm for some Halloween fun! There will be an assortment of activities for children of all ages. Wear your Halloween costume for trick or treating around the library at 4pm.

Family Fun

Children of all ages can drop-in anytime between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm for some Family Fun! There will be activities for the whole family. This program will be held on the fourth Saturday of every month.

Spooky Creatures
All Ages

The Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center will be hosting a Spooky Creatures program at the library on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 11:30am. Snakes, bats, spiders and skunks are some of the many animals that get an undeserved reputation for being scary. Have a chance to meet some of these animals and learn why they are awesome!
